PrEP Navigation

BASIC NWFL also provides PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) screening and navigation services to PrEP services for those with an increased risk for HIV.
PrEP is a HIV prevention method for people who are HIV negative to prevent and reduce the risk/spread of HIV infection. PrEP is a component of the Prevent pillar of the United States government’s Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) initiative and is recommended by the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF). PrEP is highly effective when taken as prescribed. This is done by taking one pill (Truvada or Discovy) everyday or every-two-month injections of Intramuscular CAB (Apretude). According to USPSTF, People who may benefit from PrEP include those who have had anal or vaginal sex in the past 6 months or have injected drugs in the past 6 months and share injection equipment.
