SMART Ride

BASIC has received donations that will fund services not commonly covered under Ryan White Part B such as eyeglasses. This includes other services needed due to client’s medical conditions not directly related to HIV. In addition, clients with no healthcare coverage can seek financial assistance with specialty care office visits for other complex medical conditions such as cancer or diabetes. Funds will also be utilized to purchase medications that are necessary to prevent infection such as antibiotics, etc., other medication used to treat ancillary illnesses, such as blood pressure, mental health and cholesterol lowering medications. Finally, SMART Ride can assist clients with premium payments, co-pays and deductibles. These services will fill service gaps and ensure continuity of healthcare for all clients. Services under this program are initiated by the clients contacting their case manager. Any service requested is contingent upon SMART Ride being the payer of last resort, availability of funding and will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
